Location: The Laguna Area

Only a leisurely 20 minute drive from Phuket International Airport along the west coast giving you stunning views of the Andaman Sea all the way lies Layan and Laguna Phuket. Laguna Phuket is the name that has been given to the resort, homes and development bordering the beautiful, unspoilt and virtually deserted beach along Bang Tao Bay which continues for a further 3 kilometres along the beach known locally as Layan. The beaches are very safe for swimming most of the year and several superb and inexpensive fresh seafood restaurants on the beach will serve you an unforgettable lunch or dinner.

Within 5 minutes drive of your home in Orchard Springs you have all the facilities and amenties that you will ever need to make your stay absolutely perfect! The Laguna Phuket area boasts four 5 star hotels with over 20 restaurants and countless other facilities as well as the world renowned Angsana and Banyan Tree Spa’s and the adjoining Laguna Phuket Golf Club. You can use the facilities of Laguna Phuket and even receive discounts on clothing, gifts as well as food and beverage throughout if you choose to become a member of the golf club, which we include within the cost of your home. Also in Laguna is the super Canal Village centre featuring a 24 hour clinic, bakery and gourmet coffee shop, supermarket, restaurants, shops of all kinds and a bank. Horse Riding schools and elephant trekking is also close by.

Between Orchard Springs and Laguna Phuket you will find Tinlay Place. Featuring Indian, Irish, Italian, Mediterranean, East-West and Thai restaurants and bars where there is a choice for every palate and desire. Several of the bars also feature live music most evenings and a superb dance club entices revelers from all over the island. You will also find two day spa’s, massage services, a dive centre, clothes, tailor’s shop, fabrics, gift and antique shops, a wine shop/bar as well as first class showrooms and shops at the Plaza Del Mar which are all within a hundred metres of each other. The local market featuring fresh meat, fish and vegetables, flowers and clothes as well as many other items is held only 200 metres from Tinlay Place every Sunday from 11 am and on a Wednesday evening.

The area around Orchard Springs is a golfer’s paradise with the Laguna Phuket Golf Club on your doorstep, the renowned Blue Canyon Country Club with its Canyon and Lakes courses just 20 minutes drive north and the same distance to the magnificent, recently opened Mission Hills as well as Phuket Country Club and Loch Palm Golf Club. A little further north over the bridge to the mainland and the coastal course of Thai Muang awaits you with the recently extended Navy Course just a further ten minutes beyond. All are very reasonably priced and usually in very good condition.

The sailors aren’t short of opportunities either as also 20 minutes away you have the use of three superb marinas (The Yacht Haven, the Boat Lagoon and Royal Phuket Marina), in which to moor your boat or just enjoy the superb restaurants and facilities whilst taking in the stunning views of the remarkable Phang Nga Bay. There are many excursion options and hiring a boat, yacht or catamaran of any size, complete with captain, no problem whatsoever!

Phuket Town lies 20 kilometres south and is well worth a visit for its shops, bars, restaurants and olde Phuket architecture and charm!

If you follow the coast road south from Orchard Springs through the local village of Cherngtalay five more minutes will bring you to Surin Beach. Surin is a beautiful beach with a number of bars and restaurants serving everything from noodles and fried rice to the finest ‘fine dining’ you will find anywhere in the world. The beautiful beaches of Laem Sing and Kamala are just a little further along the coast and well worth visiting and then down through Kalim Bay before you enter in Patong just 20 minutes after leaving home. Patong has something for absolutely everybody from a superb (if somewhat busy) beach, to fabulous shopping, restaurants, bars, theatres, cinemas and nightlife.

Last but certainly not least Phuket boasts one of the finest international colleges in Asia in the British Curriculum School, situated just 12 kilometres or 15 minutes easy driving from Orchard Springs. Although only in its ninth year the British Curriculum School has a superb academic record already and the location and facilities are simply outstanding. Boys and girls from 3 to 18 years can attend either day or boarding school in a multi-cultural environment guaranteed to widen their horizons and give them experiences of cultures and new friends they will remember for the rest of their lives. Largely staffed by British teachers the school largely follows the British Curriculum culminating in the globally accepted ‘International Baccalaureate’.
